Given Tegan’s outgoing and friendly nature and
her participation in sport, she had a wide circle of friends, some
of which she had remained friends with since Pre-School at the age
of 4.
On most weekends for the past few years, several of Tegan’s
friends would come over for a sleepover where stories were told,
movies were watched and of course snacks would be eaten to the early
hours of the morning. This was Tegan and she liked to entertain
and socialise.
Tegan liked to communicate with her friends and after seeing everyone
at school would often enjoy continuing the conversation not with
just one person but with many at once via the Internet or by texting
on her mobile phone. This would continue for hours with only the
occasional break to concentrate on her homework or again to eat!
The following anecdotes were told by Tegan’s friends Tamika,
Kate, Caity, Mel and Alex at her funeral service:
Tegan was a perfectionist. If we managed to
get to the shops on time after straightening her hair to perfection
in record time, the next 3 hours were dedicated to decisions on
each and every top in each and every store we walked into. It usually
resulted in Tegan asking complete strangers which top they preferred
giving us the chance to meet half the population of Canberra. For
example Tegan spent so long asking a random guy which top he preferred
he offered to buy the one for her just so he could leave. The majority
of the time we walked out empty handed thus resulting in us never
wanting to take Tegan shopping.
We took the last photo of Tegan and even though she was covered
head to toe in dirt she still had her usual beautiful smile and
she glowed with happiness. She loved photos. While looking through
her computer recently we were astonished to find 3000 photos of
all of us together that we totally forgot we ever took. Tegan had
a way of making any day one to be a part of. Her smile and laugh
were contagious and whenever she walked into a room you instantly
knew there would never be silence.
Tegan loved being unique. She had to be different
and most the time she succeeded. She took pride in being the only
brunette in our group. She also took pride in her eyes. Naturally
they were hazel but on the odd occasion they turned green she would
instantly tell everyone, as green was her favourite colour.
Tegan was extremely impulsive. A good example
of this would be one shopping experience where we intended to buy
a fish. She made a split second decision and we walked out with
Sebastian, her new mouse. This then started an epic adventure of
hiding him from her parents; meaning that on the odd occasion he
would sit in her school locker for up to 6 hours. We were all sworn
to secrecy and this lasted for approximately 6 months.
Tegan was competitive. She would never go down
without a fight even in the most ridiculous situations including
Mario party and guitar hero. If we were even close to beating her
the Nintendo or x-box miraculously turned off and the game would
have to start again. Most people would know about her ability to
excel in any competitive event she put her mind to. This ranged
from Oz-tag, Rugby, Soccer, Cycling or Phase 10 her favourite Card
Game. We would sit on her bed and play till 4am in the morning just
so that she could prove that there was no chance of us beating her.
In her 16 years she managed to touch so many
hearts and experience more then most people would in their whole
lives. To name a few she jumped out of a plane, and she won best-dressed
group at her year 10 formal. Tegan had the ability to express her
opinions just using crazy facial expressions.

Thanks to Bridgette for paying us a visit a little while ago and
for telling me the following anecdotes, which are typically Teegs:
As we all now know Teegs had a pet mouse that
the whole world seem to know about all except for her parents! Anyway
Sebastian as he was called was one day cold and shivering so what
did Tegan do to prevent him catching a cold? Well she placed him
in between the wrapped tongs of her hair straightener and turned
it on to keep him warm!
Mice can be smelly creatures so Teegs used
to disguise the smell from her parents by spraying her deodoriser
on the hidden mouse cage!
Teegs used to think it funny tormenting her
dogs by showing them Sebastian through her bedroom window!
Teegs could always keep a straight face when
convincing her friends to do something but then would burst out
laughing when they did it!
Teegs used to like eating Clinkers and being
the competitive girl she was, liked to introduce a competition to
most things so with Clinkers see liked to guess what the colour
would be inside each one before consuming them!
