31st December 1991 – The date Tegan
was born. She was born in Canberra at 7:28pm, weighing in
at a whopping 4.5kg (10 pounds) and a length of 51cms (20
inches).
She had big sparkling brown eyes, chubby cheeks, lots
of hair and a healthy pair of lungs which she was keen to
demonstrate but it didn’t take long for that first
smile to appear, a smile that would then remain with her
from that day on; it was such a memorable and proud occasion
for her parents Keely and Chris and the rest of the family.
Being a New Years Eve baby, fireworks and celebration just
seemed so appropriate to mark Tegan’s entrance into
the world and this began the life of one very special girl.
6th June 2008 – The start
of the planned stay on a property at Wagga with family friends.
A stay which Tegan and her friends were looking forward to for some
time and a time to relax and enjoy country life before the start
of the mid Year 11 college exams the following week.
8th June 2008 – The date
Tegan died and the start of the tsunami of grief her parents, sister,
cousins, aunties, uncles and grandparents are feeling. To receive
the news after going to bed on that Sunday night, the night before
Tegan was to return to Canberra signalled the start of a parent's worst
nightmare.
20th June 2008 – The date
of Tegan’s funeral held at St Paul’s Anglican Church
at Manuka that was attended by around 700 people on a cold and drizzly
Friday morning. The funeral was to be a celebration of her beautiful
life rather than focusing on her tragic and unexpected death and
featured photos and videos of Tegan with her family and friends,
her sporting exploits as well as humorous stories recounted by her
close friends.
